Job Summary
Locum Consultant Radiologist – Special Interest GI/Cardiothoracic. The post is based at Glan Clwyd Hospital (YGC) within the North Wales Cardiac Centre. Responsibilities include Cardiac CT and MRI reporting, collaboration with radiology and cardiology teams, cardiothoracic and thoracic imaging including oncology and ILD, and participation in weekly MDT commitments.
Main Duties
The post holder will:
* Contribute to the provision and development of both cardiothoracic and thoracic imaging services.
* Take responsibility for teaching, quality assurance, and service management in the specialist areas.
* Participate in general radiology workload, on‑call rotas, and teaching of trainees, students, and other hospital staff.
* Engage in risk management, discrepancy meetings, audit, and research activities.
* Collaborate with universities for potential research and teaching links.
Essential Qualifications
* Full GMC Registration
* FRCR or equivalent
* Experience in cross‑sectional imaging, particularly cardiac and thoracic imaging
* Commitment to team approach and multi‑disciplinary working
* Ability to work on call
* Commitment to participating in management processes and understanding of NHS management and clinical governance
* Evidence of participation in clinical audit and understanding of clinical risk management
* Ongoing interest in postgraduate and undergraduate teaching
* Reliable, self‑motivated, punctual, flexible and a team player who values individual contributions
Desirable Qualifications
* On the GMC Specialist Register in Radiology
* Broad experience in general radiology
* Image guided biopsy skills
* Cardiothoracic MDT experience
* Computing skills
* Evidence of management training
* Evidence of completed audit projects
* Evidence of participation in research and research‑based publications
* Organization of undergraduate and/or postgraduate teaching programmes
* Willingness to undertake professional responsibilities at local, regional, or national level
* Welsh speaker or willingness to learn Welsh
