Consultant Vascular Surgeon

The Vascular department is appointing a vascular surgeon. The East Kent Vascular Department provides emergency and elective Vascular in‑patient services, day case surgery, investigative procedures and outpatient consultations. There is a full range of elective and emergency services for all aspects of an arterial centre’s vascular service.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will join a well‑established unit with allied co‑specialties including vascular surgery, 24‑hour cover for interventional radiology and renal medicine on‑site. The consultant on‑call rota is 1 in 10 with full middle‑grade cover 24‑7. We are a forward‑thinking department with a young consultant body and therefore are happy to consider adapting job plans to accommodate family and home life.

Person Specification
Qualifications and training
* Full GMC Registration CCST/CESR Specialist Registration
* Minimum of English Level 2 (GCSE grade C or equivalent), IELTS, or graduate of a UK Medical School
* Experience in Aortic Surgery both open and endovascular
* Research track record
Skills and experience
* Completed training in vascular and endovascular surgery.
* Wide and comprehensive experience in the care of vascular patients.
* Fully conversant with the NHS and its governance structures.
* Leadership skills or courses
* Teaching skills
Clinical governance
* Understanding of clinical governance
* Record of audits performed
* Interest in leading audits, governance and appraisals
