Position
Biomedical Scientist – Microbiology (Band 6) – University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust.
Cross-site working across Derby, Burton and Chesterfield is required.
Responsibilities
* Undertake day‑to‑day sample processing and analytical clinical investigations for Microbiology to the agreed standard of timeliness and quality.
* Supervise Band 5 Biomedical Scientists and Medical Laboratory Assistants within their work area.
* Engage in the training and development of staff.
* Fully participate in on‑call and weekend duties, including the on‑call rota.
* Familiarise and understand ISO 15189 standards, Health & Safety requirements, audit and training/education techniques.
* Utilise transformation methodologies to drive change and improve service delivery.
Qualifications
* HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist or Specialist Biomedical Scientist.
* Completed IBMS Specialist Diploma or within a few months of completing this qualification.
* Experience in Microbiology sample processing and analysis.
* Knowledge of ISO 15189, Health & Safety, audit and training/education techniques.
* Proactive, dedicated and able to work across multiple sites on a rotational weekend and on‑call basis.
