Financial Accountant
Central London | Railway Infrastructure Sector
An established and highly regarded organisation within the railway infrastructure sector is seeking a technically strong and commercially minded Financial Accountant to join its Financial Control team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a practice-trained ACA/ACCA who has since moved into industry as a Financial Accountant or Finance Manager and is now looking for a broader, more commercially exposed role within a complex, regulated environment.
The Role
Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will play a key role in ensuring robust financial control, technical compliance, and high-quality reporting across the business.
Key responsibilities will include:
* Ownership of fixed asset accounting and reconciliations
* Lead on IFRS 16 lease accounting
* Preparation and management of statutory accounts, including change control
* Driving high-quality and timely balance sheet reconciliations
* Supporting external and internal audits
* Providing guidance on accounting standards, company law and HMRC regulations
* Supporting tax computation preparation
* Partnering with wider finance and operational teams to mitigate risk and improve processes
This role offers real breadth - combining technical accounting with business interaction and process improvement.
About You
We are looking for:
* ACA or ACCA qualified (practice-trained)
* Currently in industry in a Financial Accountant or Finance Manager role
* Strong grounding in technical accounting and financial control
* Commercially astute - able to understand the "why" behind the numbers
* Confident communicator with strong interpersonal skills
* A proactive problem solver who enjoys improving processes
* Meticulous attention to detail
