Your new company
You will be joining a well-established organisation undergoing a period of transition, where there is a strong focus on strengthening internal processes and ensuring that key people-related services are delivered effectively. The organisation places importance on collaboration across departments and is committed to maintaining high standards in compliance, data integrity and service delivery, particularly within payroll and pension operations.
Your new role
In this interim position, you will take ownership of payroll and pension functions, providing leadership across both operational delivery and system improvement. You will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll for a mid-sized workforce, while working closely with internal teams such as finance and external service providers to maintain smooth and compliant operations.
The role will involve oversight of system enhancements, particularly within the payroll platform, and ensuring that data governance standards are upheld. You will also contribute to the effective management of third-party providers, supporting performance reviews and ensuring agreed service levels are consistently met. Alongside this, you will act as a key point of contact for pension-related coordination with relevant external bodies.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful, you will bring substantial experience of managing payroll operations at a senior level, ideally within a complex or regulated environment. A strong working knowledge of payroll systems is essential, with experience in system configuration or optimisation being highly beneficial.
You will also demonstrate an understanding of pension processes, with exposure to public sector schemes considered advantageous. Your ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders, both internally and externally, will be key, alongside a solid grasp of data protection principles and best practice in handling sensitive information. A proactive, hands-on approach with attention to detail will enable you to navigate both operational and strategic elements of the role effectively.
