AIT Cleanroom Manager
Key Purpose of Job: Responsible for managing and operating the AIT Cleanroom and bridges efficiently, ensuring all areas are maintained to standards that enable safe spacecraft work. This role supports the AIT team to meet production schedules and deliver spacecraft safely and professionally.
Key Tasks
1. Coordinate logistics for management and maintenance of loading bay, Cleanroom, bridges, and AIT containers.
2. Manage spacecraft thermal chamber use and coordinate planned maintenance with SSTL facilities and AIT users.
3. Supervise outside contractors and ensure adherence to Cleanroom procedures.
4. Allocate and maintain storage for flight hardware and manage offsite equipment transfer.
5. Inventory all AIT equipment and manage storage, including disposal of obsolete items.
6. Allocate and maintain EGSE and ensure cleanliness and order in bays and storage areas.
7. Maintain Cleanroom tools, equipment, and consumables, including calibration and inspections.
8. Manage onsite repairs and servicing of AIT installations and supervise lifting and handling equipment.
9. Ensure health & safety compliance, including maintaining access lists, safety records, and equipment.
10. Generate and maintain processes for logistical services and ensure proper training and enforcement of procedures.
Person Specification
Previous Experience: Experience in a Cleanroom or engineering lab preferred. Background as an electrical lab technician, wireman, or in mechanical apprenticeships is advantageous. Familiarity with machine tooling, risk assessments, and safety regulations (COSHH, Lifting, Gas) is desirable. Experience in planning, scheduling, and budgeting is beneficial.
Qualifications, Knowledge & Skills
* BTEC OND/ONC/NVQ in electrical, electronic, or general engineering or equivalent experience.
* Practical, hands-on skills with a high attention to detail.
* Excellent planning, organization, and communication skills.
* Flexible, adaptable, results-oriented, proactive, and capable of decision-making and problem-solving.
* Proficiency in MS Office, especially Word and PowerPoint; good Excel skills; VBA knowledge advantageous.
* Willingness to work irregular hours and weekends during peak periods.
* Team player with professional interaction skills and a pragmatic attitude.
* Ability to perform heavy lifting, hold a full clean driving license, and optionally operate forklifts and overhead cranes (certifications desirable).

Office-based in Guildford, Surrey.
Security Clearance
Must hold or have held EU personal security clearance within the last 5 years and be a citizen of an EU or Schengen member state.
