Job Overview
The Event Operator plays a critical role within the agency, supporting the successful implementation and delivery of live events to the highest possible standard. Working as part of the wider Operations and Warehouse teams, the role is hands-on and varied, combining warehouse coordination, on-site event support, logistics, asset management and health & safety responsibility.
Based across Strata’s warehouse facilities and live event environments, the Event Operator works closely with the Operations Management Team, Warehouse Manager, account teams and freelance staff to ensure the correct equipment is prepared, delivered, installed, collected and returned efficiently. The role involves managing a diverse range of client-owned and Strata-owned event and exhibition equipment, with a strong focus on quality control, organisation and process compliance.
This position requires flexibility to work unsocial hours, including weekends and overnight stays, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team under pressure and to tight deadlines. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong communication skills, a practical and proactive attitude, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of safety, asset care and ISO9001 compliance across all activities.
The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate the below experience:
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with operators, warehouse staff, management, clients, and freelance personnel at all levels.
* Proven experience in event operations or logistics, including coordination of equipment delivery, collection, and on-site setup and derig.
* Ability to work closely with warehouse and operations teams, accurately managing event equipment using delivery notes, collection notes, and asset management systems.
* Practical, hands-on approach, with the capability to complete event setups using basic hand tools while adhering to health and safety risk assessments.
* Willingness and flexibility to work unsociable hours, including weekends, overnights away from home, and participation in on-call or call-out teams.
* Full UK driving licence, with the ability to safely drive vans up to 3.5 tonnes and operate mechanical handling equipment such as tail lifts.
* Strong organisational and quality management skills, ensuring accurate tracking, maintenance, repair, quarantine, and disposal of event and client equipment.
* Understanding of health and safety requirements, with the ability to manage day-to-day H&S on events and report issues to the Assistant Operations Manager.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team, supporting event setups, breakdowns, and wider operational demands under pressure and to tight deadlines.
* Administrative competence, including timesheets, email communication, basic reporting, and compliance with ISO 9001 quality standards.
