Job Description
We are currently recruiting for a talented Fire Engineer to join an industry-leading, multidisciplinary consultancy based in Exeter. Our client is an award-winning practice recognized as an industry leader, working with Housing Associations, Local Authorities, Developers, commercial portfolio holders, and residential management companies, providing Fire Engineering services. Chartered Building Surveyors interested in transitioning into Fire Engineering are also encouraged to apply, as our client is receptive to such applications.
The practice has been providing Fire Engineering services for several years and aims to further develop their fire engineering team to support their multidisciplinary offerings. The candidate will help promote the practice and develop and maintain client relationships. Limited travel within the region is expected to fulfill the role's requirements and handle a diverse range of projects.
This role suits an experienced Fire Engineer seeking a change and working in a fast-paced environment.
Fire Engineer Position Overview
* Ability to work as part of a team, check and authorize fire engineering work, prioritize workloads, and meet deadlines.
* Lead and manage complex projects proactively and diligently.
* Manage projects from inception to completion.
* Client-facing role, ensuring high standards of technical delivery.
* Produce fire engineering reports for design projects, collaborating with architectural and building services teams.
* Work with a team of over 30 building surveyors conducting EWS1/FRAEW surveys.
Fire Engineer Position Requirements
* Degree in Fire Engineering or a suitable equivalent undergraduate or postgraduate qualification, or Chartered Building Surveyor status.
* Strong knowledge of UK legislation, standards, and regulations (e.g., BS9999, RRFSO, PAS79, PAS7, BS7974, Building Regulations).
* Experience in undertaking EWS1 survey reports / FRAEW's.
* Understanding of DLUHC guidelines on external wall systems and Building Regulations, with the ability to learn quickly.
* Experience in conducting fire risk assessments across various property types (education, residential, healthcare, industrial, commercial).
* Experience in fire integrity/compartmentation surveys, identifying breaches, proposing remedial repairs, and preparing specifications and designs.
* Full UK driving license and access to a vehicle for travel.

* Competitive salary (£60,000 - £90,000 DOE).
