Job Title: AV Technical Designer
Location: St Albans / Hybrid
Salary: £45,000 - £50,000 per annum
Overview
The AV Technical Designer plays a pivotal role in delivering detailed technical drawings, comprehensive system documentation, and providing post-sales design support. This role ensures the creation and maintenance of accurate design packages throughout the project lifecycle to guarantee smooth and successful delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Produce detailed audiovisual system drawings, including schematics, layout plans, Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) drawings, rack layouts, and cable schedules
Conduct thorough site surveys to define project scope and gather essential technical information
Develop and review post-sales design documentation to support project execution
Update and amend drawings promptly in response to project changes
Compile accurate kit lists and assist with procurement and material ordering processes
Obtain and manage necessary project documentation from main contractors
Provide product demonstrations when required
Attend occasional site meetings to facilitate effective project coordination
Collaborate closely with the Commercial Director and project teams to ensure alignment and delivery excellence
Ensure all design outputs meet client specifications and conform to AV industry best practises
Experience and Skills
A minimum of 3 years’ experience in audiovisual design
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Visio, or comparable design software
Sound understanding of corporate AV systems, including meeting rooms, digital signage, and AV routing
Working knowledge of control platforms such as Crestron, AMX, Extron, or equivalent
Ability to accurately interpret scopes of work and construction documentation
Exceptional attention to detail with excellent documentation and communication skills
Full UK driving licence
Right to work in the UK
