Rate of Pay: £17.53 - £22.32 per hour
Summary:
North Northamptonshire Council is seeking a proactive and knowledgeable Development Management Officer to join its Planning Services team. This role will involve processing a range of smaller-scale planning applications, validating applications, and conducting site visits. The postholder will play a key role in supporting high-quality development outcomes in line with planning legislation, policy, and guidance.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience in development management, be comfortable working independently on caseloads, and demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Responsibilities:
* Validate planning applications to ensure accuracy and completeness.
* Assess and process a range of planning applications, primarily small-scale developments.
* Prepare reports and recommendations in accordance with planning policy and relevant legislation.
* Conduct site visits and post site notices as required (candidates must be willing and able to travel).
* Liaise with applicants, agents, statutory consultees, and the public regarding planning proposals.
Qualifications:
* Relevant degree or qualification in Town Planning or a related field.
Requirements:
* Experience in development management within a local authority or planning consultancy.
* Understanding of planning law, national policy, and local development frameworks.
* Strong analytical, negotiation, and report-writing skills.
* Ability to manage a varied caseload and meet deadlines.
