THE ROLE
We're recruiting an experienced Client Manager to take ownership of a diverse client portfolio and serve as the primary point of contact for creative industry clients. This role offers immediate responsibility and rapid career development in a supportive, forward-thinking environment.
You'll be managing client relationships from day one, leading a junior team, and building on your exposure to client advisory services. The ideal candidate will be comfortable running client meetings, presenting information, and identifying new opportunities within the client base.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Client Management:
* Manage a portfolio of clients as their main point of contact
* Oversee bookkeeping to trial balance and VAT return submissions
* Prepare accounts for Limited Companies, Sole Traders, and Partnerships
* Handle payroll processing and P11D submissions
* Maintain accurate client records and prepare management reports
* Build strong relationships through regular, proactive client contact
* Liaise with HMRC and other external bodies
Team Leadership:
* Supervise and mentor junior staff and apprentices
* Allocate resources and prioritise work flows
* Manage team billing, workload, and performance
* Provide training and development support
Performance & Growth:
* Meet utilisation and budget targets
* Identify opportunities to grow existing client relationships
* Support new client on boarding processes
* Deliver exceptional service quality and meet all deadlines
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
Essential Requirements:
* 3+ years accountancy practice experience (essential)
* ACCA or ACA qualified (or equivalent experience for seasoned professionals)
* Strong UK VAT and bookkeeping knowledge
* Experience with accounts preparation and tax advice
* Proven ability to manage client portfolios independently
* Team management and leadership experience
* Excellent communication and presentation skills
Technical Skills:
* Proficiency in accounting software (Xero and TaxCalc preferred)
* Advanced MS Office skills
* Experience with fixed assets, period-end adjustments, and reconciliations
Personal Qualities:
* Confident, presentable, and client-focused
* Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
* Team player who can both lead and take direction
* Passionate about delivering exceptional customer service
Desirable:
* Experience with creative, media, fashion, or digital/technology clients
* Knowledge of Sage software
