Milk Education are working in partnership with a supportive and inclusive secondary school in Clacton, Essex, who are seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team.
This is an excellent opportunity to work within a mainstream secondary setting, supporting students aged 11–16 with a range of additional needs and helping them access the curriculum confidently and successfully.
The Role
As a SEND Teaching Assistant in a secondary setting, your role will include:
Providing 1:1 support for students with EHCPs
Supporting small group interventions in literacy, numeracy or social skills
Assisting students with Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH needs, and moderate learning difficulties
Helping students remain engaged and focused during lessons
Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies
Liaising with teaching staff and the SEN department to track progress
Promoting independence and confidence within the classroom environment
You may support across a range of subjects, so adaptability and confidence working with secondary-aged students is essential.

The Ideal Candidate
Experience working with young people aged 11–16 (school, youth work, coaching or care)
Understanding of SEND, particularly ASC, ADHD and SEMH
Calm, resilient and patient approach
Strong communication skills
A proactive and positive attitude
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
This role would particularly suit graduates in Psychology, Education Studies or related fields who are considering careers in teaching, educational psychology or youth support.
