FIXED TERM/SECONDMENT- 12 MONTHS

An exciting opportunity has arisen to provide first contact physiotherapy intervention in GP Practices and/or MSK Outpatient Physiotherapy Departments based within

Perth and Kinross.

You will act primarily as a first contact physiotherapy practitioner triaging, assessing and providing self-management advice to patients presenting to the service. There may also be an MSK clinical caseload within the Physiotherapy Department. The Physiotherapy service also accepts referrals from Consultants, GPs, AHP services and Advanced Nurse Practitioners.

You will assist with the supervision, education and development of more junior staff and students within the speciality. You will provide specialist resource to other healthcare staff/patients/carers and have an active involvement in Clinical, Care and Professional Governance, Clinical Effectiveness, Quality Improvement (QI) and Research.

You should have demonstrable highly specialist clinical skills and knowledge, from postgraduate clinical courses/in service. This should be evidenced in your Continued Professional Development portfolio, with comprehensive knowledge of best practice/clinical guidelines/standards across trauma, orthopaedics and general musculoskeletal conditions.

Ability to request imaging would be desirable but not essential as full training can be given. Non medical prescribing and ability to administer corticosteroid injections would be an advantage.

NHS Tayside is committed to supporting ongoing personal and professional development as essential to provide a quality service and we can support this through CPD workshops, appraisals, in-service training and involvement within the MSK Tayside Practice Development Network. This post provides the opportunity to develop a wide range of skills including MDT working, service development, QI and leadership experience.

The Physiotherapy Departments are friendly, dynamic and sociable with strong links with Universities providing student placements primarily from Aberdeen, Glasgow and Edinburgh. The Physiotherapy service in Tayside has won national awards across several specialties, and all staff are dedicated to deliver the best service possible through expanding skills and knowledge, streamlining service and providing the best in patient care.
