We are looking for a Cultural Worker with experience supporting children and families to join our award-winning, Family Link Team. Inspired by the successful implementation of similar roles in other children’s hospices to strengthen connections with local communities, we are seeking a Turkish-speaking Family Support Worker to help ensure our services are culturally responsive and accessible.
The Family Link Team offers social and emotional support from allocated Key Workers who act as a central point of access for families to Noah’s Ark Services, in addition to providing advice, advocacy and emotional support. The Family Link Cultural Worker role involves assessing family needs, introducing them to appropriate services, and when required providing tailored linguistic and cultural support to Turkish-speaking families. You will continue to support families throughout their child’s journey with Noah’s Ark, including, where appropriate, after the child has died.
This bespoke role will be pivotal in developing and maintaining meaningful relationships with culturally diverse communities across North Central London and Hertsmere. It will play a crucial part in ensuring that Noah’s Ark remains responsive to the evolving needs of the communities we serve.
About You
You will be fluent in both English and standard Turkish, with the ideal candidate also speaking an additional language. You will have experience working with children and families from culturally diverse backgrounds in a key worker or family support role. Excellent communication skills are essential. We are seeking someone who demonstrates a deep understanding of the importance of sensitivity and strict confidentiality when engaging with members of the community.
You will have a good understanding of the needs of children with disabilities and complex conditions, as well as the challenges faced by their families. Experience in needs assessment and care planning would be an advantage. You will be confident working independently while also demonstrating strong teamworking skills, ideally with experience of inter-professional collaboration across health, education, and social care sectors.
An awareness of, and willingness to work within, children’s palliative care and bereavement work is essential. Experience in bereavement support would be beneficial, though not essential as training will be provided. An awareness of cultural attitudes to death and dying would be an advantage. You will bring excellent interpersonal skills, a positive and enthusiastic attitude, and a flexible approach to this dynamic working environment.
A full driving licence and access to a vehicle for business use is desirable, given the wide geographical area we cover.
Kindly see the attached job description for more information about this opportunity. We encourage early applications, as we reserve the right to close this role early if we receive sufficient applications.
Please note that an enhanced DBS disclosure with Child & Adult Barring will be required for this post. Our recruitment checks, induction, ongoing support and supervision, reflect our commitment to safeguarding the families we support.
Applications will be reviewed as they are received, and we reserve the right to close this role early. We therefore encourage you to apply as soon as possible.
