Local Plan Support Officer
Initial salary between £27,423 and £34,944 per annum (plus cost of living increase).
Fixed Term Contract through to June 2029.
Based at Kings Court Council Offices, Kings Lynn.
Overview
We are looking for an organised and motivated Local Plan Support Officer to play a key role in shaping the future of the borough. This is an exciting opportunity to be at the heart of the Council’s emerging Local Plan, helping to manage its delivery through the new national plan‑making system. Working closely with planning officers, senior managers, Members and external stakeholders, you will ensure the Local Plan progresses efficiently, transparently and in line with statutory requirements.
Responsibilities
In this pivotal role, you will provide effective project management and coordination across a range of Local Plan workstreams. These include:
* Developing and maintaining project programmes, tracking milestones and risks
* Coordinating meetings and preparing clear reports and updates
* Managing project documentation, supporting stakeholder engagement
* Assisting with research and evidence gathering
* Driving service improvement by identifying better ways of working
Qualifications
Educated to A level or equivalent, with experience in a project, planning, or multidisciplinary office environment. Candidate should have:
* Strong organisational skills, excellent attention to detail and confidence in managing multiple priorities
* Proactive self‑starter with strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, SharePoint) essential, along with experience of maintaining accurate records and working with data
* Ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of people and audiences
