Main duties of the job
In this patient‑facing role, you will be an essential part of the ward‑based pharmacy team. Your core duties will involve conducting medicine reconciliation, supporting safe administration of medicines and providing expert advice to patients and healthcare staff.
* Conducting accurate medicine reconciliation for new and existing patients.
* Supporting the safe and effective administration of medicines (ATOME).
* Providing expert advice and information on medicines to both patients and healthcare staff.
* Utilising your ACT qualification to manage dispensary workflows and supervise technical staff.
* Ensuring the accurate and timely supply of medications to wards and departments.
* Working collaboratively with the multi‑disciplinary team to optimise patient treatment plans.
* Upholding the highest standards of clinical governance and patient safety.
Qualifications
* Must hold a recognised Pharmacy Technician qualification and be registered with the GPhC.
* Accredited Checking Technician (ACT) qualification is essential. Evidence will be required.
* A minimum of 1 year of recent NHS ward experience, including direct, face‑to‑face patient interaction.
* Excellent knowledge of medicines and their use.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively within a multi‑disciplinary team.
* Proven ability to work accurately under pressure and manage your own workload.
* Full compliance with mandatory training and immunisation requirements.
