Job Introduction


We are seeking an experienced and motivated Occupational Therapist to join the Occupational Therapy 0–18 Service as a Senior Practitioner OT, supporting children and young people to achieve their full potential. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a dedicated team of professionals delivering high-quality, evidence-based interventions across a diverse caseload.

The role requires you to work in a multi-disciplinary setting. The main duties of the role include conducting in-depth assessments and providing clinical expertise in complex case management. There will also be an expectation that you will be a role model to developing Occupational Therapists offering professional guidance and some supervisory oversight to ensure we deliver high quality services within Children Social Care.

The Senior Practitioner OT will deliver a safe, strength-based service, promoting and improving independence, ensuring comprehensive person-centred assessments, reviews and interventions ensuring residents are safeguarded, enabling choice and control regarding their accommodation, care and support needs.

The successful applicant will demonstrate expert skills and knowledge in equipment and adaptation assessment and provision for children and young people in their own homes, they will also have strong communication skills and be adept at multi-disciplinary working.

Key Responsibilities

* Provide operational support for team and cover for the Team Manager for the OT 0–18 team.
* Ensure delivery of safe, effective, and person-centred services in line with statutory requirements and best practice.

* Demonstrate a good understanding of budgets, ensuring responsible management of public funds, including the effective recommendation for specialist equipment, adaptation grants and financial resources available

* Support staff development through best practice examples, knowledge and skills

* Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, families, and external agencies to promote integrated care.
* Drive service improvement initiatives and contribute to strategic planning.


About You

* Qualified Occupational Therapist with current HCPC registration.
* Significant experience working within paediatric OT services.
* Proven and demonstrable skills within a health or social care setting.
* Strong communication, organisational, and problem-solving abilities.
* Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
* This position is subject to an Enhanced Children's DBS Check.
