We require a proven leader with at least 3 yearsexperience within a leadership management role ideally within a healthcaresetting.
Excellent communication, delegation and management skills, and theability to implement and embed effective and efficient processes are essential.Like all primary care leaders, you will be resilient and perform well underpressure. Your ongoing professional development will underpin your success inthe role. The position has become available due to the pending retirement ofour current practice manager.

Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be responsible for the overallmanagement of the business including managing staff, recruitment, health andsafety, HR, ensuring the practice is CQC compliant, managing complaints,driving change within the practice and implementing processes to maintain andenhance our high-quality service. You will have the vision, willingness anddrive to adapt to NHS targets and its developing changes within a profitableand efficient working environment. You will be responsible for overseeingfinancial operations.
Experience of working in general practice is ideal, however wewelcome applications from candidates who possess the skills and attributes weare looking for, along with experience of running a medium sized business.There will also be an opportunity for a handover period from our currentpractice manager.
At least 3 years previous management experience, excellentcommunication, team-working skills, proven senior leadership experience,high-level IT literacy and analytical skills are essential requirements forthis post.

Job responsibilities
Responsibilityfor the smooth, efficient and profitable running of the practice.
Provideleadership, direction and management skills to enable the practice to meet itsagreed aims and objectives within a profitable, efficient, safe and effectiveworking environment.
Tomanage performance and quality standards, data quality issues, providing adviceand guidance to all practice staff.
Tooversee the claims process for work undertaken as part of enhanced national orlocal services, and any other schemes as applicable.
Tokeep the partners abreast of forthcoming changes within the NHS applicable tothe business and managing the change accordingly.
Strategic management and planning:-
* Keepabreast of current affairs, developments within the NHS and identify and takeaction to potential opportunities and threats offering options forconsideration by the partners.
* Contributeto practice strategy; formulate objectives and research and develop ideas forfuture practice development.
* Monitorand evaluate performance of the practice team against objectives; identify andmange change. Develop and maintain effective communication both within thepractice and with relevant outside agencies.
* Assessand evaluate accommodation requirements and manage development and expansionplans.
Humanresources: -
* Ensurepersonnel records are maintained for all staff, including DBS checks,absenteeism and training records. Implement mandatory and personal developmenttraining.
* Implementinduction training for new staff.
* Overseethe recruitment and retention of staff and provide a general personnelmanagement service. Ensure that all members of staff are legally and gainfullyemployed. Monitor skill-mix and deployment of staff. Manage staffing levelswithin target budgets.
* Evaluate,organize and oversee staff induction and training, and ensure that all staffare adequately trained to fulfil their role.
* Liaisewith the Hull York Medical School and GP training scheme regardingstudent/specialty registrar placements, rotas and contractual matters.
* Developand implement effective staff appraisal and monitoring systems.
* Motivate,support and mentor staff both as individuals and as team members.
* Overseestaff holidays.
* Overseeand/or organize admin/clinical staff timetables, work rotas and holiday cover.
* Implementeffective systems for the resolution of disputes and grievances.
* Managestaff probation, under performance, sickness absence, and all other HRfunctions within practice policies.
* Keepabreast of changes in employment legislation.
* Maintainup-to-date HR documentation (including job descriptions, employment contractsand employment policies).
* Conductingstaff surveys.
Finance: -
* Maintainand oversee practice bank accounts and reconcile income and expenditure.
* Implementand maintain insurances for the practice.
* Prepareclaims for enhanced and other services and ensure payment received.
* Monitormonthly claims and invoice submissions for receipt.
* Managethe practice payroll including reconciling payments to HMRC and Pension Agency.
* Maintainand update staff pension records and inform NHS Pension Agency of any changes.
Organisational:-
* Overseepractice meetings, convene meetings, prepare agendas and ensure distribution ofminutes as necessary.
* Developpractice protocols and procedures, review and update as required.
* Managethe procurement of practice equipment, supplies and services within targetbudgets.
* Developand review Health and Safety policies and procedures and keep abreast ofcurrent legislation.
* Arrangeappropriate insurance cover
* Ensurethat the practice has adequate disaster recovery procedures in place
* Arrangeappropriate maintenance for practice equipment
* Understandthe requirements of the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and play ad active partin implementing and maintaining requirements for inspection
Premises and Equipment: -
* Responsibilityfor the security, repairs, insurance and maintenance of premises, services andequipment

Information Technology: -
* Evaluateand plan practice IT implementation and modernisation
* Keepabreast of the latest development in primary care IT and regularly update thepractice team

* Ensurethat the practice has effective IT data security, back-up, maintenance anddisaster recovery plans in place
