Are you a skilled and passionate Scrub Practitioner ready to take the next step in your career? We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Scrub Team Leader to join our dedicated Orthopaedic Surgical Teams at Chorley and District Hospital. As a scrub team leader, you will play a pivotal role in leading a specialist team within our Orthopaedic theatres, ensuring the highest standards of perioperative care. You will be responsible for coordinating theatre activity, supporting junior staff and working closely with the multidisciplinary team to deliver safe, efficient and compassionate care to patients undergoing Orthopaedic surgery. Job Responsibilities
* Assist and support the Clinical Manager in the safe and effective management of the service, including staff, facilities and associated systems and processes.
* Communicate all relevant information to the multidisciplinary team internally and with external organisations to ensure seamless care.
* Act as a role model presenting a positive image of self, the team and the organisation.
* Be responsible for the delivery and coordination of care, making optimal use of operating sessions, identifying potential bottlenecks and facilitating smooth patient flow through the department.
* Ensure a high standard of service delivery is delivered by self and others based on assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care to meet patients’ needs in accordance with local and national standards and evidence‑based guidelines.
* Set, monitor and maintain standards of care to improve the patient experience and outcome of care.
* Proactively manage risk and maintain patient safety, conforming to health, safety and security legislation, policies, procedures and guidelines.
* Promote provision of patient education and health promotion.
* Promote equality in care and practice by recognising, respecting and meeting the needs and choices of individuals.
* Ensure environment of care is safe, well equipped and compliant with standards for hygiene and cleanliness.
* Participate in education and training of junior staff, encouraging professional growth and development.
* Maintain and develop own professional competence and seek to extend the scope of personal knowledge and skills within the scope of role and professional practice.
* Demonstrate and maintain competence in anaesthetic practice (ODPs).
Essential Qualifications and Experience
* Registered nurse or ODP with current NMC or HCPC registration.
* Evidence of current and continuing professional development.
* Extensive experience in Scrub.
* Mentorship qualification or willingness to work towards one within 12 months of commencement.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
* Degree in a related health care area.
* Level 3 ILM (Institute of Leadership and Management) or equivalent.
* Knowledge of ethical issues.
* Knowledge of Leadership and Management.
* Research and Development experience.
* Experience of budgetary management.
Essential Knowledge and Experience
* Awareness of changes in practice and ability to implement change.
* Knowledge of Clinical Governance and its relevance to practice.
* Knowledge of relevant policies and procedures.
* Knowledge of escalation and cancellation processes.
Basic Requirements
* Current UK professional registration.
* Subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 – Disclosure and Barring Service check required.
Contract and Compensation
Band 6 – £39,959 to £48,117 per annum, pro rata. Permanent. Full‑time. Posting date: 31 May 2026.
