The Role
Babcock is a trusted provider of integrated solutions for global defence and security, supporting and enhancing our customers’ defence and security capabilities and critical assets. The Senior Quality Engineer will work within the Mission Systems Effectors business unit, ensuring that all project decisions are in line with quality standards and analysing risk that may compromise quality.
Responsibilities
* Represent the customer’s interests and maintain an open, collaborative relationship.
* Provide quality input and advice through the project lifecycle.
* Identify quality risk and work to mitigate, manage and, where necessary, raise issues to programme leadership.
* Manage the non‑conformance process, driving root‑cause analysis and prevention where appropriate.
* Oversee progress and sign‑off the delivery process to assure customers that their requirements have been met.
* Collect, analyse and report on quality performance data.
Essential Experience
* A proficient quality assurance engineer with experience in a related industry and familiarity with how quality applies throughout a product or service delivery lifecycle.
* Previous customer‑facing role or experience is beneficial.
* Experience of implementing quality improvements and encouraging culture change within a team or organisation.
* Experience of auditing quality ISO9001 management systems.
* Excellent working knowledge of quality tools and problem‑solving techniques and the ability to provide guidance to others in their use (e.g. Pareto, FMEA, 5 why’s, 8D, etc.).
Qualifications
* ONC, HNC or NVQ Level 3 qualification in a quality, science, engineering discipline are desirable.
* Membership of a recognised quality institute (e.g. CQI) is desirable.
* ISO 9001 auditor preferable but training can be provided.
Security Clearance
