IT Field Engineer
Location: Hereford (Office Based + Client Visits)
Salary: Up to £35,000 + Electric Company Vehicle & Excellent Benefits
I’m recruiting on behalf of a growing and well-respected IT services provider based in Hereford, who are looking for a confident and capable IT Field Engineer to join their expanding technical team.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys being out on the road, working face-to-face with clients, and solving a wide variety of technical issues in real-time. You’ll spend around 90% of your time on client sites across the region, with the rest of your week in the office supporting remote work or project planning.

What you’ll be doing:
* Providing high-quality, on-site IT support to a diverse client base
* Installing, configuring, and maintaining desktops, laptops, printers, servers, and networking hardware
* Supporting and maintaining Microsoft 365 and other cloud-based environments
* Troubleshooting LAN/WAN, router, switch, and firewall issues
* Performing regular maintenance, patching, and infrastructure upgrades
* Keeping accurate technical documentation of client systems and site visits
* Offering remote support when needed, especially during quieter periods
* Building strong client relationships through excellent communication and service delivery
What you’ll need:
* Proven experience in an IT Field Engineer or 2nd Line/Desktop Support role
* Strong knowledge of:
* Windows 10/11, Windows Server (2016–2022)
* Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy
* Microsoft 365 admin centre, Exchange Online, Intune
* Networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, VLANs, switches, routers, firewalls)
* Confident in hardware troubleshooting across devices and peripherals
* Excellent customer service and time management skills
* Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel daily to client sites
Nice to have (but not essential):
* Certifications such as CompTIA, Microsoft, or VMware
* Experience with virtualisation (Hyper-V or VMware)
* Familiarity with backup tools (e.g., Veeam, Barracuda)
* Previous use of RMM tools (ConnectWise, ITBoost)
* Knowledge of Microsoft Azure and Azure AD
