Job Description

The M25 is one of our flagship projects in the UK and is a critical infrastructure asset for cars and freight into and around London. The network includes around 800 structures and 5 tunnels, requiring high performance and ongoing improvement and repair. We have formed a Joint Venture, Connect Plus Services (CPS), to widen, operate and maintain the M25 under a 30-year contract. We are looking for a Senior Project Manager to deliver project objectives across key areas of performance: Health & Safety, Quantity, Cost, Environment, Delivery & People. This role involves direct line management of project managers, assistant project managers and early careers, and successful delivery of the programme of works on time and to budget. The value range for schemes overseen is £20k to £4m+.


Key responsibilities / duties

* Stakeholder Management - Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with the Portfolio Manager, SPM, Construction/Supervisor teams and other stakeholders to ensure mutual understanding of delivery objectives, report on and review performance, and agree solutions to issues.
* Maintain compliance with the DBFO contract, clarify roles and responsibilities within the team, resolve risks and issues, produce timely and accurate reports, and manage records including change management.
* Identify and evaluate risks, issues, dependencies and constraints; escalate where appropriate and develop, agree and implement solutions where necessary.
* Lead and oversee projects through feasibility, design, construction and handover; inform investment proposals at each stage.
* Global or master programme maintenance for whole portfolios.
* Programme income and cost profiles, oversee and challenge the Project Managers input.
* Client liaison on project and portfolio level.
* Chair and drive regular project reviews to ensure current and live: project and division risk register; project risk category; review submissions register; AWN correspondence register progress and milestone dates; project income and cost forecast; project change; project priorities for resource allocation; manage correspondence and queries through Aconex.
* Project change control and reviewing processes and procedures.
* Allocate projects to PMs based on knowledge, experience, ability and workload.
* Work closely with the Construction/Supervisor team to ensure permits, certificates and site reporting are managed correctly and align to project needs.
* Managing NEC Contracts Options as Project Manager.


Working arrangements

* Ability and willingness to travel to other offices and depots on the network as required.
* Periodic requirement for site visits (including night shifts).

Full Driving Licence


Qualifications

* Experience in the delivery of highways construction & maintenance operations or similar transferable experience.
* Project Management skills, preferably with recognised PM qualification (PRINCE2, APMP, etc.).
* Minimum HNC / HND (or equivalent) in a civil engineering or construction-based discipline preferred.
* Broad knowledge of other design areas.
* Understanding of Environmental requirements of schemes.
* Experience coordinating interfaces with design teams and external resources.
* Understanding of H&S requirements related to highway construction & maintenance works.
* Knowledge of CDM and other H&S legislation; competent in duties under CDM.
* Applicable CSCS Card.
* Team leadership and management experience in driving performance and productivity.
* Strong communication and stakeholder management skills; customer focus with a service delivery mindset.
* Commercial understanding and budgetary control experience.
* Understanding of Lean principles.

Experience

* Experience at a senior level in the delivery of highways construction & maintenance operations or similar transferable experience.
* Previous experience in a similar role with demonstrable competence in relation to the majority of the responsibilities listed above.
* Experience of managing projects through complete lifecycle.
