The Role
We are recruiting a mechanically biased fitter to join our team, performing light maintenance and repairs on rolling stock. As a Mechanical Fitter, you will diagnose faults across mechanical and electrical systems, with a strong emphasis on mechanical skills. Your daily tasks will include replacing driver seats, window wipers, windscreens, lights, headlamps, air hoses, braking systems, and pneumatics.
You will also conduct service inspections and routine fleet maintenance, ensuring all work complies with safety and industry standards.
You will collaborate with trainers and team members to develop your skills in maintenance and diagnostics. The company is committed to upskilling and supporting your professional growth, with training modules offering remuneration of up to £1500 per module.

About You
Ideal candidates will have a strong mechanical background, especially in heavy machinery or vehicles such as rolling stock, HGVs, plant, or aerospace. A good understanding of pneumatics, braking systems, and hydraulics is essential, along with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
As this role is in a safety-critical environment, all candidates must complete pre-employment checks, including medical assessments, drug & alcohol screening, and DBS.
We welcome applications from ex-forces personnel (RAF, Royal Navy, British Army) and experienced engineers from Marine, Rail, Automotive, HGV, or Bus sectors. This is a great opportunity to transition into the rail industry and grow within a dynamic sector.
This position operates on a 3-shift pattern with overtime opportunities.
