Job Title: Quantity Surveyor
Location: Heathrow Airport - Hounslow - Northrop Road
Role: Full Time, Monday to Friday
Here at Mitie we are looking for an experienced and established Quantity Surveyor to join the expanding team at Heathrow Airport!
This opportunity is a brand new role for a motivated professional to make their own and fully manage the whole project lifecycle.
Job Objectives :
1. Support the commercial delivery of multiple airport projects, typically valued between £50, up to £5 million. Project scopes range from, but are not limited to, refurbishments (from office to welfare facilities), critical plant replacements, energy efficiency upgrades, and luminaire replacement, all delivered under NEC contracts.
2. Assist in managing Mitie's cash flow in line with project expenditure, identifying opportunities to optimise financial outcomes.
3. Help maintain and improve project margins by supporting the identification of commercial opportunities.
4. Keep clients informed of cost changes and support transparent communication throughout the project lifecycle.
5. Monitor purchase order coverage and assist in managing variation changes in accordance with NEC procedures.
Main Duties
6. Work from a Mitie office located at the airport, with responsibilities spanning both site and office-based activities.
7. Prepare tender and contract documentation in line with NEC contract requirements.
8. Conduct cost analysis and feasibility studies based on client needs.
9. Develop and produce issue cost models, cash flow forecasts for projects with complex programmes.
10. Perform risk assessments, value management, and cost control, ensuring compliance with NEC principles.
11. Support procurement strategy development and commercial risk management.
12. Prepare and evaluate tender costings.
13. Allocate work to subcontractors and monitor performance.
14. Provide input on contractual claims and dispute resolution under NEC terms.
15. Analyse project outcomes and compile detailed progress reports.
16. Value completed works and assist with payment processes in accordance with NEC payment mechanisms.
17. Maintain awareness of current building contracts, with a strong focus on NEC variants.
Person specification:
18. Holds a recognised degree or professional qualification in Quantity Surveying.
19. Experience supporting the commercial management of construction projects, ideally within NEC frameworks and airport environments.
20. Proactive and forward-thinking, with strong planning and programme awareness.
21. Results-oriented, committed to high standards, and capable of problem-solving.
22. Organised, with strong time management and prioritisation skills.
23. Reliable, punctual, and accountable.
24. Brings a positive attitude to the team.
