What do the team do?
The Tax department works with clients across a broad spectrum, from high net worth individuals through to large corporates and not-for-profit entities. They have an international presence and offerpliance services forplex clients through to delivering exciting projects of an advisory nature.
Within our Tax department we have an established team of VAT specialists. They undertake project advisory work and also work in conjunction with other areas of the business such as the Outsourcing and Audit teams on moreplexpliance matters. Some of the typical sectors our clients operate in include property and construction, professional and financial services, charities, academies and other education providers, manufacturers operating in the UK and overseas, emerce, international goods movements, health providers and tels providers.
What will I be doing?
As a VAT Senior / Assistant Manager you will have ownership of the following tasks:
1. Undertaking in depth research on technical VAT queries and delivering reasoned analysis
2. Producing written VAT advisory reports
3. Overseeing a small number ofplex VAT return calculations
4. Helping to resolve VAT checks and enquiries from HMRC
5. Reviewing and keeping up to date with the indirect tax world and participating in team technical sessions
6. Reviewing technical VAT advice prepared by junior team members
7. Proactively upskilling wider team and mentoring more junior colleagues
What experience do I need?
Whilst having the following experience is advantageous, we value passion and potential. If you meet the minimum criteria listed below and are eager to develop yourself, we would love to hear from you:
8. CTA part qualified / qualified (indirect VAT route) (minimum criteria)
9. At least two years' experience in VAT in an accountancy practice (minimum criteria)
10. Proven ability to identify VAT issues and risks
11. Ability to write clear and articulate reports
12. Strong IT skills includingpetency in using Excel
