Ecommerce at Detectamet
We have an established base of customers using our sites to research, compare and purchase detectable products for their business. Digital and offline marketing activity also results in a large number of new customers visiting our sites each day. The sites are platformed on Magento (Adobe Commerce) and currently managed in house. Our goal is to provide an Ecommerce service which encourages more customers large and small to trade with us online.
Job title: Ecommerce Manager
Summary
This is a new position, to enable us to accelerate the growth of our online presence and adoption of Ecommerce amongst our growing customer base. As Ecommerce Manager, you will develop the strategy and roadmap for our online stores and digital retail platform. You will be responsible for defining, prioritising, and delivering features that enhance the customer experience, increase conversion rates, and drive profitable sales growth. This role requires a blend of strategic vision, customer focus, strong data analysis skills, and technical ability, while working effectively with cross-functional teams. You will report to the Managing Director and work alongside the website manager and with the Sales and Marketing teams.
Key responsibilities
* Strategy and roadmap: Define and execute the ecommerce product strategy. Develop and maintain a clear product roadmap that aligns with company goals and customer needs.
* User research and analysis: Conduct qualitative and quantitative research to understand customer behaviour, pain points, and needs. Use insights to inform product decisions and drive innovation. Develop a strong understanding of the differing requirements of the whole range of customers.
* Feature prioritisation: Manage the product backlog and prioritise features and enhancements based on business impact, customer value, and technical feasibility.
* Cross-functional collaboration: Work as the central point of contact between third parties, marketing, sales, and product teams to ensure alignment on product goals.
* Performance monitoring: Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) such as conversion rates, average order value, customer retention, and traffic patterns. Use data analytics to measure success and identify areas for improvement.
* A/B testing and optimisation: Lead experimentation efforts to test new features and improvements. Use results to make data-driven decisions that continuously optimise the online experience.
* Product lifecycle management: Oversee the end-to-end product lifecycle, from prioritisation and development to launch and ongoing optimisation.
* Digital ecosystem management: Manage integrations with third-party systems, such as payment gateways, inventory management software, and shipping APIs, to ensure a seamless and scalable platform.
Experience
* Experience: 5+ years of experience in Ecommerce, preferably including B2B experience, with a demonstrable record of personal development. Exposure to multi-site, multi-language working would be beneficial.
* Technical aptitude: Solid understanding of the technologies used to build and operate ecommerce platforms, including Magento (Adobe Commerce), API integration and web development concepts.
* Analytical skills: Proficiency with analytics tools like Google Analytics,New Relic, Hotjar, along with a strong ability to analyse data and translate it into actionable insights.
* Agile methodology: Experience of working alongside third parties in an agile development environment.
* User experience (UX): A deep understanding of UX design principles and a customer focused mindset.
* Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate product strategy and insights to both technical and non-technical colleagues.
* Leadership: Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive consensus without direct authority.
* Problem-solving: A proactive and creative approach to identifying and solving complex business and customer problems.
