To provide an effective and comprehensive school nursing service to a defined population that meets the needs of the local community in line with the Health Child Programme.
To provide and manage a defined caseload, using a public health approach to deliver a high-quality service that promotes the physical and mental health of children and young people under the following provisions: Youth Justice Service, Pupil Referral Units, Electively Home Educated, and NEET (Not in Education, Employment, or Training).
The role includes:
* Providing health screening and surveillance
* Health promotion
* Supporting the health needs of young people within the caseload
* Participating in safeguarding processes
* Identifying health needs of vulnerable children and young people attending or under the specified provisions
Children and young people served may include:
* Youth Justice Service
* Pupil Referral Units
* Children excluded from school where appropriate
* Home schooled children with parental permission
* Children who are NEET
