Refrigeration Engineer - Environmental Test Chambers
1. Location: Cheltenham (on‑site)
2. Duration: 12‑month contract
3. Status: Inside IR35
4. Rate: negotiable on experience
ur client is seeking an experienced refrigeration engineer to join a busy, dynamic facilities and maintenance team on a 64‑acre engineering campus in Cheltenham. You will be part of a 16‑person team that includes refrigeration engineers, electricians, plumbers, labourers and a gardener, supporting critical test and production facilities across the site.
The Role
5. Day‑to‑day maintenance and management of environmental stress screening (ESS) chambers
6. Fault finding and diagnostics on environmental chambers and associated systems
7. Programming chambers to support product testing, including temperature, humidity and other environmental profiles
8. Planning and supporting preventative and corrective maintenance activities
9. Working on additional equipment such as laser wire markers, vibration systems and other specialist test equipment (full training provided)
10. Ensuring all work is carried out safely and in line with relevant regulations and site procedures
Essential Skills & Experience
11. Safety‑conscious approach with strong awareness of relevant regulations and best practice
12. F‑Gas Category 1 qualification from an accredited body such as C&G, BESA, LCL or CITB (course code 603/1917/3 / 2079‑11 or equivalent)
13. Proven experience working on Thermotron and Sharetree environmental stress chambers
14. Electrical competency for refrigeration systems (able to work safely on live and isolated systems as required)
15. Ability to work independently while managing and prioritising multiple tasks
16. Strong team player, comfortable operating in a multi‑discipline environment
17. Good organisational and communication skills, able to liaise with engineers, technicians and managers
18. Computer literate, able to use maintenance systems, email and basic office software
