Our Shift Leader rate of pay starts from £14.76 an hour; this increases to £15.97 for stores inside the M25. Additional payments may also apply depending on location.

It’s our policy to offer new colleagues a minimum of 16 guaranteed hours each week, but if you’d like to work fewer hours (to a minimum of 12) we have opportunities for this too.

We will schedule your contracted hours within the times listed above and you will receive 3 weeks’ notice of exactly when your shifts will be. We are happy to support flexibility for our colleagues, so if the times you are available to work match closely, we’d still love to hear from you.


Responsibilities

* Work in a fast‑paced retail environment, with a variety of products.
* Take ownership of running duty shifts and coordinate the team to deliver a clean, well‑stocked store that exceeds customer expectations.
* Listen to customers and help them leave the store with what they came for.
* Look for ways to improve service, including coaching your colleagues and giving feedback.
* Guide and support colleagues in‑store, ensuring it stays a safe place to work and shop.
* Maintain a great understanding of how the store is performing and assist managers in delivering any actions that help improve the running of the store.
* Lead from the front and set a great example for all.


Key responsibilities (in detail)

* Coordinating the store team to deliver an easy, fuss‑free shopping experience for customers.
* Supporting colleagues, ensuring they deliver daily priorities and take regular breaks.
* Opening and closing the store, completing duty cover, ensuring all decisions made are right for everyone's safety.
* Being the go‑to person for colleagues in the absence of a manager for day‑to‑day queries.
* Keeping the store clean, tidy and well‑presented.
* Supporting managers to coordinate seasonal, community and charity events.
* Contributing to a great team atmosphere that is inclusive of everyone.
* Providing great customer service, listening to customers and putting them first.
* Keeping the team well‑informed and up to speed on any communications, changes, or updates.
* Staying knowledgeable about store performance and looking for ways to improve and simplify operations.
* Coordinating store improvements and removing any obstacles that might hinder great service.
* Following health and safety routines and procedures and ensuring colleagues do the same.
* Recognising and celebrating colleagues who provide great service.


Requirements

* Excellent customer service, ensuring every customer's needs are met.
* Strong relationship building with colleagues to create a positive and inclusive team atmosphere.
* Clear communication, comfortable with using a variety of methods to keep the team well‑informed and up to date.
* Comfortable taking the lead, overseeing the store in the absence of your manager.
* Decisive, flexible thinking, and comfortable handling change to ensure everything is right for customers and colleagues.
* Motivating, able to inspire the team to deliver beyond expectations.
* Curious and always on the lookout for ideas and opportunities to serve customers, communities, and the planet a little better every day.
* Must be 18 or over and meet any additional age or work‑time restrictions as described.
