Job Title: SEN Teacher
Location: Copper Fields School, Gunnislake PL18 9EH
Salary: Up to £38,000.00 per annum depending on experience (Not pro rata)
Hours: 40.5 hours per week, Monday 8.30am-5.00pm | Tuesday to Friday 8.30am-4.30pm
Contract: Permanent, Term Time Only
Start: January 2026

About the Role
As an SEN Teacher, you’ll create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment for pupils with autism, learning difficulties, and complex needs. Your work goes far beyond delivering lessons — you’ll help each child thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
Key Responsibilities:
* Teaching and supporting pupils with a range of special educational needs, including autism, learning difficulties, and complex needs.
* Planning and delivering engaging, accessible lessons that promote both academic and personal development.
* Using a variety of teaching approaches and resources to maximise engagement and support diverse learning styles.
* Adapting lessons to meet individual needs in line with EHCP targets and developmental stages.
* Monitoring and assessing progress regularly, ensuring all aspects of pupil growth are recognised.
* Supporting the development of key life skills, including communication, independence, and emotional resilience.
* Working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to deliver consistent, high-quality support.
* Making effective use of the school’s specialist spaces and resources to enhance learning experiences.
* Building positive relationships with pupils, families, and carers to support each child’s learning journey.
Who we are looking for
You will be:
* A qualified teacher with UK QTS (or equivalent)
* Passionate about supporting pupils with SEN, autism, and complex needs
* A natural communicator, able to build trust and strong relationships with pupils, staff, and families
* Creative and flexible in your approach to teaching and learning
* Experienced (or interested) in working in specialist settings or alternative provisions
* Committed to safeguarding, pupil wellbeing, and positive behavioural support
* Collaborative, reflective, and eager to contribute to the school’s continued growth

Copper Fields School provides full-time specialist co-education for up to 60 pupils aged 4-16, who have a primary need of Autism Spectrum, communication and language and often additional needs.
