Offer description

Make a difference and shape the future of health and care in Herefordshire.

At Herefordshire Council, we're passionate about promoting healthier lifestyles and reducing inequalities across the communities of Herefordshire. To help us on this journey, we're looking for a dedicated and insightful Health and Care Intelligence Specialist to join our Public Health Team.

This exciting and newly created role will be undertaken alongside a 36-month (Health Care Intelligence Specialist Level 7 Apprenticeship) with training provider JGA Group. The apprenticeship information document attached to the advert provides more detail about the apprenticeship course and modules. This role, combined with the apprenticeship, offers a unique opportunity to influence real change across the local health and social care system through high-quality data analysis and intelligence gathering.

Dr. Badri Padmanabhan, the recruiting manager, invites you to join our mission of turning data into meaningful change and helping to shape healthier futures.

He says: "Join our dynamic, forward-thinking Public Health team and kick-start your career in health and care intelligence. You'll work alongside our brilliant analysts and intelligence specialists, gaining hands-on experience and developing skills that will set you apart. We're proud to be a recognised training hub, supporting future Public Health leaders and GPs. This is your chance to learn from the best, make a real difference, and help improve the health and wellbeing of our community."

What will you be doing?

As the Health and Care Intelligence Specialist, you will help develop the range, quality, and availability of public health intelligence. Your work will support the information needs of the Public Health Team and its partners within Herefordshire Council and across the Integrated Care System. This will include:

1. Leading on analysis and interpretation of complex health, care, and population data using appropriate specialist health analytical, epidemiological, and biostatistical techniques; and draw meaningful conclusions to understand the factors that influence population health, inequalities, and the planning and delivery of health and care services.
2. Advising on the investigation of patterns and variations in determinants, diseases, conditions influencing health and care outcomes, and service evaluations.
3. Working in partnership with statutory, non-statutory, voluntary, and private sectors to promote effective collaborative working to achieve shared health improvement priorities.
4. Contributing to the council's response to public health emergencies including communicable disease outbreaks and major incidents involving chemical, biological, or radiological hazards.

Applicants should have prior experience of research, analysis, evaluation, report writing, and presentation work, along with an aptitude for working with data and generating intelligence.

- Experience of turning data into information, insight, and intelligence to enhance the health and wellbeing of the population.

- Self-motivated with initiative, but also able to work effectively as part of a team, contributing to policy, performance, and planning development.

- Meet the qualifications and training requirements as outlined in the Person Specification section of the Job Description.
