This role is responsible for managing the strategic buying responsibilities for the Luton site, ensuring the plant achieves objectives related to supplier management, cost management, quality, delivery, etc.
Responsibilities include:
1. Managing day-to-day issues with suppliers, challenging situations, and establishing solutions.
2. Managing database of suppliers, key changes, VMI counts, contract reviews, etc.
3. Providing support and guidance for Operational/Junior Buyers, delegating workload, and monitoring completion.
4. Attending regular meetings with key vendors and maintaining an actions list.
5. Using meetings to drive performance improvement.
6. Driving improvements across all key metrics such as SOTD, PPV, DPPM, DPO, and inventory levels.
7. Identifying and leading cost-reduction projects, ensuring deadlines are met, and tracking actual savings.
8. Conducting vendor price negotiations and advising the operational team on pricing issues.
9. Managing supplier disputes and performance issues as required.
Qualifications and Skills: CIPS Level 4 or equivalent procurement qualification, preferably SAP, Microsoft Office, Supplier Management, Prioritisation, Collaborative, Adaptable, Analytical, Good communication skills.
