Engineering Technician
Are you an electrically biased, multi-skilled engineer looking for your next challenge?
Do you have experience maintaining high-speed production lines in a fast-paced FMCG environment?
Are you someone who thrives on solving problems quickly and driving continuous improvement?
MacGregor Black is partnering with a leading FMCG brand as they look to strengthen their site engineering team with the appointment of an Engineering Technician. This is a permanent role based in Glasgow.
This role sits at the heart of the site’s operations — and calls for someone with a strong electrical engineering background. You’ll be involved in all aspects of line support, from reactive breakdown response to planned maintenance and continuous improvement. You'll work closely with engineers, operators, and production leadership to keep equipment running at its best and contribute to long-term efficiency gains.
If you're someone who enjoys getting stuck into the detail, spotting patterns in downtime and driving performance, this is a great opportunity to put your skills to work in a role with real impact.
Key Responsibilities:
* Carry out scheduled maintenance tasks, identifying opportunities for optimisation and recommending improvements.
* Respond quickly and effectively to equipment breakdowns, using root cause analysis to reduce future failures.
* Analyse data related to efficiency, wastage, and downtime to identify areas for operational improvement.
* Work from detailed engineering drawings and manufacturer documentation to source and install parts.
* Record activity and performance data accurately via downtime sheets, logbooks, and system updates.
* Support and implement continuous improvement projects to enhance reliability and output.
What We’re Looking For:
* Apprentice-trained or formally qualified engineer (HNC/HND desirable).
* Electrically biased, with strong multi-skilled knowledge.
* Experience working in FMCG, food, or high-speed manufacturing.
* Comfortable working with maintenance systems and understanding engineering KPIs.
* A confident problem solver who’s comfortable making decisions under pressure.
* Practical knowledge of CI/Lean/Six Sigma would be a strong advantage.
* Strong IT and data interpretation skills.
