J3A Recruitment are proud and excited to be supporting a Tier 1 Contractor who have already been highly successful on AMP 7 with a view of continuing this through AMP 8.
Due to a healthy workload, they are now looking at hiring an experienced Quantity Surveyor to support with projects on the Thames Water Framework.
The Quantity Surveyor will ensure the successful financial delivery and completion of projects, protecting the exposure of the Company to financial risks, together with adherence to the commercial procedures of the Business. Responsible for the commercial management of a large project or on several smaller projects.
Main Duties of the Quantity Surveyor
* Co-ordinating with, reporting to and implementing the reasonable directives of the Regional Director/Manager and the Commercial Manager
* Ensuring the timely submission of all relevant data required to monitor and analyse individual contract performance on a monthly and quarterly basis thereafter.
* Liaising with Project Managers on the day-to-day basis for commercial administration of contracts to ensure the financial success of construction operations and to keep the MQS / Commercial Manager appraised of all material events.
* Preparing accurate draft sub-contracts and/or to approving such drafts as prepared by Commercial Team within the Region.
* Ensuring consultation with contracts management that all necessary notices and submissions required by the various forms of contract are given in an expedient manner.
To be successful as a Quantity Surveyor
* Sound & comprehensive understanding of construction industry and the parties to it.
* Proficient knowledge of measurement and valuation.
* Good knowledge of standard forms of contract.
* Ability to negotiate with clients/sub contractors and draft sub contracts.
* Knowledge of CIS.
* Ability to produce accurate monthly cost and value reports and outturn financial forecasts.
* Awareness of dispute procedures.
* Extensive experience of working on live projects and final accounts
* Exposure to resolving disputes.
* Successfully completed a number of final accounts.
* Experience of working in the water industry highly desirable.
