Role title: Head of Commercial

TPR grade & pay group: Head of – Grade 4

Directorate: COO Group

Starting salary: £80,535 per annum (dependent on skills and experience)

Contract type: Permanent

Location: Brighton/hybrid 8 days per month in the office


The role and responsibilities

As Head of Commercial, you will lead the entire commercial lifecycle, overseeing procurement, contract management, and supplier relationship management in line with best practice, legislative requirements, and government guidelines. Reporting to the Director of Finance, you’ll shape commercial strategies, deliver innovative solutions, and ensure robust contractual frameworks that support business continuity and outstanding supplier outcomes. You’ll manage and develop high‑performing teams, foster collaborative relationships across the organisation and with key external partners, and play a pivotal role in major projects and outsourced contracts.


The role criteria

* MCIPS, BIFM or equivalent professional qualification.
* Proven experience in strategic procurement and contract management, including major outsourced contracts.
* Strong knowledge of contract law, supplier management, and commercial best practice.
* Demonstrable leadership skills, with experience managing and developing teams.
* Excellent relationship‑building, influencing, and negotiation abilities.
* Effective communicator, both written and verbal, with strong interpersonal skills.
* Analytical and problem‑solving mindset, able to make sound decisions and assimilate complex information.
* Experience working with government guidelines, regulatory bodies, and compliance requirements.

The Commercial Team plays a vital role in supporting and advising the organisation throughout the entire commercial lifecycle.
