Are you passionate about making a real difference in patient care and staff safety? We’re looking for a dedicated Management of Violence and Aggression (MAV) Advisor to help shape and deliver essential training across our services.

In this exciting role, you’ll work closely with senior instructors and the PTU Manager to plan, implement, and develop innovative approaches to managing aggression and violence. Your expertise will empower our teams to use least restrictive practices and provide compassionate care, even in challenging situations.

You’ll also play a vital part in supporting the Community Dental Service, offering guidance to clinicians on patient management and assisting with safe clinical holding when needed—helping ensure dental care is delivered safely in both hospital and primary care settings.

We’re looking for an experienced healthcare professional who :

* Is committed to promoting safety and dignity for patients and staff.
* Has a strong understanding of symptoms of distress and de‑escalation techniques.
* Is passionate about delivering high‑quality training and fostering a culture of care.

If you’re ready to take on a role that combines clinical expertise, leadership, and education, and want to make a positive impact across the trust, we’d love to hear from you!

Closing Date : 23rd November 2025

Shortlisting Date : W / C 25th November 2025

Assessment Centre Date : 9th December 2025

Interview Date : 15th December 2025

Main duties of the job

As a MAVTrainer, you’ll be at the heart of creating safer, more compassionate care environments. Your mission is to deliver impactful training programmes that blend theory with hands‑on practice, all aligned with our Restraint Reduction Programme.

Your focus will be on prevention first—teaching strategies that stop violence before it starts, mastering de‑escalation techniques, and ensuring any intervention is reasonable, proportionate, and risk‑assessed.

Here’s what you’ll be doing

* Lead inspiring training sessions that empower staff with confidence and practical skills.
* Run dynamic, interactive courses that adapt to learners’ needs and encourage active participation.
* Champion positive approaches by exploring the root causes of distress and promoting alternative solutions.
* Build strong rapport with learners to create a safe, supportive learning environment.
* Promote equality and inclusion, ensuring anti‑discriminatory practice is at the core of every session.
* Maintain safety standards —monitor and uphold healthy, secure working environments during training.
* Provide expert guidance and practical advice throughout sessions to reinforce best practice.

Our team is proactive, innovative, and passionate about reducing incidents and improving care. We believe in ownership through care, and that learning is most powerful when it’s engaging, collaborative, and practical.
