Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity to work as a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist in a multi-disciplinary team that warmly welcomes psychological ideas and practices. We are seeking to appoint a band 7 CBT therapist with a post-graduate qualification in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Psychosis to work in the Salford Division at Prescott House Community Mental Health Team. We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our friendly and supportive team as we venture towards community transformation and supporting the inclusion of the six core therapeutic modalities.

In addition, you will need to be organised, able to prioritise and work well under pressure. You will also need to be able to work effectively through offering psychological assessment and treatment/intervention collaboratively with service users and their carer's promoting independence and recovery. You will also have a strong sense of initiative and an excellent team working ability.

Main duties of the job

Main duties of the job

The post holder will primarily be responsible for providing:

·CBT based assessments and interventions for people experiencing distressing psychosis, bipolar and other mental health difficulties who access care within the Community Mental Health Team (CMHT).

·Behavioural Family Intervention assessment and interventions for families who are supporting a person’s recovery from psychosis.

·Working collaboratively as part of the service’s multi-disciplinary team

·As the community transformation project develops, the post holder will be expected, when possible and appropriate, to contribute to the provision of psychological interventions via a specialist hub ( a collaborative specialist team approach).

The post holder will also:

·Promote the flexible and responsive development of psychologically informed service delivery via their direct and indirect work, and via liaison with other services within GMMH.

·Contribute to psychological aspects of crisis management

·Contribute to the supervision and professional development of other staff.

·Work within the policies, procedures and guidelines for the Salford Directorate.

·Follow an agreed job plan.

Qualification

Essential criteria

7. CBTp therapy qualification
8. Currently Registered with BABCP or appropriate professional body

Desirable criteria

9. Completion of the Meriden Train the-Trainer Behavioural Family Intervention training.
10. Knowledge of EMDR, CAT, MBT, SCM
11. Completion of the Meriden Behavioural family intervention training, or willingness to complete this training and implement the work.

Experience

Essential criteria

12. Demonstrable experience in using cognitive-behavioural therapy to facilitate the personal recoveries of people experiencing distressing psychosis and bipolar and their carers.
13. Demonstrable experience in using cognitive-behavioural therapy to facilitate the personal recoveries of people experiencing severe depression, anxiety and trauma.
14. Experience of working with high levels of co-morbidity. Experience of working with clients misusing substances.
15. Experience of working in an NHS multidisciplinary team.

Desirable criteria

16. Experience of working with clients with complex emotional and relational needs.
17. Experience of providing clinical supervision

Skills/Abilities

Essential criteria

18. Evidence of using excellent clinical skills in assessment, intervention and formulation and communication.

19. Demonstrable skills relating to providing family interventions

The Trust mandates all post holders who require a DBS for their role to subscribe to the DBS Update Service. You will be required to enrol for this service for a fee of £16 per year and maintain registration throughout your employment with GMMH.
