An opportunity exists within adult learning disability (ALD) speech and language therapy (SLT) for a permanent band 6 role (22.2 hours). This role requires the post holder to work within an adult learning disability inpatient hospital (Lochview) as well as within the Falkirk Community Learning Disability Team. The post holder may require to give occasional support to Stirling or Clackmannanshire Learning Disability Teams. This post is part of small but committed ALD SLT service that is striving to deliver the best outcomes to adults with a learning disability.
As a senior speech and language therapist, you will work with a wide and diverse range of people to deliver quality approaches to support positive outcomes for adults with a learning disability. The successful candidate will work in partnership to enable adults with a learning disability to reach their communication potential. The post holder will also play a key role in the assessment and treatment of Eating, Drinking and Swallowing (EDS) difficulties.
This role will require the successful candidate to plan and deliver new and innovative approaches. The candidate will be highly experienced in delivering individualised care to a broad range of people with communication and EDS support needs. They will also have significant experience of delivering targeted approaches, such as training, and be able to take part in measuring impact within these interventions. The successful candidate will be highly competent in improving the communication environment, affecting behaviour change and modeling, and coaching others with a range of approaches and interventions.
You will receive professional support, leadership, and clinical supervision. Ongoing professional development is very important and is supported in areas relevant to this role.
Ability and willingness to travel throughout the area of service delivery is essential for this post.
