We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced radio frequency coil engineer to join the POLARIS research group working across the Schools of Medicine and Population Health and Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the University of Sheffield.
Responsibilities
* Take forward methodological research in engineering multi‑nuclear RF coils for MRI applications hyperpolarised with 1H, 129Xe, and other nuclei.
* Undertake teaching commitments in modules spanning electrical and electronic engineering, biomedical engineering, RF engineering and signal processing in the Schools of Electrical and Electronic Engineering and Medicine and Population Health.
* Work closely with engineers in GE Healthcare, MRI physicists and engineers in the team, and alongside clinical partners at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals and Sheffield Children’s Hospital.
Qualifications
* Good Honours degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) and a PhD or post‑doctoral experience in RF coil engineering research (or equivalent).
* A proven track record of high‑quality scientific publications and demonstrated evidence of working in a multi‑disciplinary team.
About the Research Group
POLARIS has strong links with the Insigneo Institute for in silico medicine and with Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Sheffield Children’s Hospital. We are internationally recognised for research in MR methodology for proton and non‑proton MRI of the lungs (https://www.sheffield.ac.uk/polaris), and active beyond pulmonary MRI including neuroscience, abdominal and cardiovascular imaging, and multi‑nuclear MRI. Our state‑of‑the‑art imaging facilities include 2 × 1.5T MRI scanners, a 0.5T MRI scanner, a 3T PET‑MR scanner, hyperpolarisation labs and a well‑equipped RF engineering laboratory.
Benefits
We offer a highly competitive annual leave entitlement (with the ability to purchase more), a generous pensions scheme, flexible working opportunities, a commitment to your development and wellbeing, a wide range of retail discounts, and more.
