An established consultancy in the Bristol area is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to support electrical design delivery while working alongside the wider engineering team and contributing to project and technical activities.
This role combines hands‑on technical design, collaboration with engineering teams, and client interaction. The successful candidate will support projects from concept through to completion, ensuring delivery in line with programme and budget requirements.
Key Responsibilities
* Support electrical design across a variety of project sectors.
* Work alongside engineers and wider project teams to deliver technical solutions.
* Produce design packages including specifications, drawings, schedules, calculations, and cost estimates.
* Assist in delivering projects in line with company procedures, programme, and budget.
* Contribute to design coordination and technical discussions within project teams.
* Liaise with clients, contractors, and project stakeholders when required.
* Conduct site surveys and produce technical reports.
* Support quality inspections and ensure compliance with relevant standards.
* Use CAD and BIM systems in accordance with internal standards.
* Assist with project documentation and technical reporting.
* Support the development of internal electrical standards.
Experience Required
* Experience within a building services consultancy or contractor design environment.
* Exposure to multi‑disciplinary building services projects.
* Production of specifications and design calculations (manual and software‑based).
* Preparation or support of tender packages and tender analysis.
* Exposure to budget costings for building services.
* Experience assisting with on‑site project delivery.
* Production of condition or survey reports.
* Client and stakeholder communication experience.
* Experience undertaking site surveys across the UK.
Technical Knowledge
* Current Building Regulations, particularly energy‑related controls.
* CIBSE Guides
* IET (IEE) Wiring Regulations
* CDM Regulations
* British Standards
* UK BIM and Revit standards
* Project Exposure
Education
* Commercial buildings
* Condition and acquisition surveys
* Contract administration
* Qualifications
* HNC, Degree, or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
