We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and innovative Pharmacist to lead and advance pharmaceutical services within the Urgent Care and Emergency Department at Bradford Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. You will be supported by a team of experienced clinicians who value your input and contribution to patient care.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about maintaining high standards of patient care, demonstrate strong teamwork and a sense of accountability, and be committed to innovation and research. Your quality improvement skills will be a key attribute, along with a proven ability to lead and manage change. You will supervise and teach others as part of your role.


Responsibilities

* Lead, provide and develop high‑quality clinical pharmacy services to the emergency department and acute admissions unit to improve patient care and promote evidence‑based, cost‑effective prescribing.
* Advise the Assistant Director of Pharmacy – Clinical Services and the Director of Pharmacy on local or national issues or legislation relevant to specialist areas, ensuring implications are recognised and actioned at an appropriate senior level.
* Lead, facilitate and participate in the development, implementation, monitoring, review and analysis of departmental audit/research projects to meet cost improvement and quality targets.
* Provide, lead and develop the clinical pharmacy service to specialist areas aligned with patient and departmental needs, ensuring delivery of a high‑quality, patient‑centred, effective service.
* Contribute to patient care as part of the multidisciplinary team by attending ward rounds or other meetings, making proactive clinical interventions, and providing drug‑related information. Act as the lead pharmacy contact for the specialist area.
* Coordinate practice research within the Pharmacy Directorate for the specialist area – identify research areas, mentor students, implement findings and promote local or national publications.


Experience (Essential)

* Significant post‑registration experience in all aspects of hospital pharmacy.
* Training and/or significant experience in clinical teaching / tutoring, audit, practice research, and risk management.


Experience (Desirable)

* Experience working in a similar role.


Skills (Essential)

* Accurate and concise written and oral communication skills.
* Ability to receive, summarise, communicate and present information to a wide range of professionals across the Trust.
* Proven persuasion, negotiation, tact and diplomacy skills to influence prescribing.
* Effective independent and team working skills.
* Analytical skills to interpret a wide range of clinical information.
* Problem‑solving approach and creative thinking for clinical issues.
* Ability to assess staff performance and provide constructive feedback.
* Prioritisation, planning and adjustment of pharmacy services within the specialist area.
* Ability to work effectively to short, medium, long‑term and changing deadlines.
* Public speaking skills.
* Specialised advice on medicine use in specific clinical areas.
* Analyse and report on drug expenditure within the specialist area.
* Work independently and under guidance within departmental, Trust and statutory codes of practice/ethics.
* Computer literacy.


Knowledge (Essential)

* Information Governance and Confidentiality.
* Broad knowledge of therapeutics.
* Specialised knowledge of therapeutics and medicine use within acute medicine.
* Comprehensive understanding of the formulation, preparation and therapeutic action of medicines.


Qualifications (Essential)

* MPharm or equivalent.
* Registered as a Pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
* Post‑graduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent experience.
* Independent Prescribing qualification.


Qualifications (Desirable)

* Member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain.
* Leadership or Management qualification.
* Working towards Faculty Accreditation.


Employment Details

Location: Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Duckworth Lane, Bradford, BD9 6RJ.

Salary: £55,690 to £62,682 per annum.

Contract: Permanent.

Working pattern: Full‑time.
