Job Title: Cost Accountant
Salary: £45,000
Location: Worcester
Robert Walters are supporting a leading business based in Worcester in their recruitment of a Cost Accountant on a permanent basis paying up to £45k.
Key Responsibilities of the Cost Accountant:
* Provide timely and insightful performance reporting with commentary, covering key operational and financial metrics.
* Develop, maintain and analyse standard costs for materials, labour and overheads, ensuring accuracy and alignment with production processes.
* Lead variance analysis to understand cost deviations, trends and improvement opportunities.
* Manage site capital expenditure (Capex) processes, ensuring accurate recording, capitalisation and disposal of assets.
* Oversee ongoing inventory valuation, stock provision calculations and support cycle count accuracy.
* Contribute to the annual budgeting process and conduct regular departmental expenditure reviews.
* Support continuous improvement activities through financial evaluation of manufacturing processes and controls.
* Assist with internal and external audit requirements and ensure compliance with relevant policies and accounting standards.
The successful candidate will have the following:
* AAT qualified or CIMA part-qualified (or equivalent).
* Degree (or equivalent experience) in Finance, Accounting or a related discipline.
* 2-3 years' experience in a finance role, ideally within manufacturing or a similar environment.
* Strong IT skills, including advanced Excel and experience working with ERP systems.
* Excellent analytical ability with strong attention to detail.
* Confident communicator who can partner effectively with operational teams.
* Knowledge of cost accounting principles.
* Experience with standard costing, bill of materials (BOMs) and routing structures.
* Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies.
