Offer description

We are seeking a dedicated and resilient Behaviour Mentor to join a vibrant and inclusive school community in Lancing from September. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting young people to succeed in education, particularly those who may face barriers to learning due to behavioural or emotional challenges.

As a Behaviour Mentor, you will work closely with pupils across Key Stages, providing tailored interventions and one-to-one support to promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and engagement in learning. You will also support class teachers and pastoral staff in maintaining a calm and purposeful learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

* Build strong, respectful relationships with pupils who require additional behavioural support.
* Deliver structured interventions and mentoring sessions to support emotional wellbeing, self-esteem and resilience.
* Monitor behaviour patterns and work with school leaders to develop appropriate strategies.
* Liaise with families, external agencies, and school staff to ensure a consistent and joined-up approach.
* Promote inclusion and encourage positive participation in all aspects of school life.

The Importance Of a Behaviour Mentor

Behaviour Mentors play a critical role in improving outcomes for pupils who may be at risk of exclusion or disengagement. By offering consistent, patient and proactive support, Behaviour Mentors help pupils to develop the skills and confidence they need to make positive choices, re-engage with learning and succeed both socially and academically. This work has a lasting impact, not only on individual pupils, but on the wider school culture and community.

Person Specification

* Experience working with young people, ideally in a school or youth setting.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
* Empathy, resilience, and a calm, non-judgemental approach.
* A background in sport or performing arts would be highly desirable, as these areas often provide powerful tools for building relationships, boosting confidence and promoting teamwork among pupils.
* A genuine commitment to inclusion and supporting the most vulnerable learners.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to make a meaningful difference in a school that values relational approaches and high expectations for all pupils.
