Job Purpose:
My client is looking to recruit a talented Spa & Leisure Manager in their luxury hotel in Oxford. The role is to lead and manage the daily operations of the hotel's Leisure Club and Spa, ensuring the highest standards of guest experience, safety, cleanliness, and profitability. The Leisure and Spa Manager will oversee the gym, pool, treatment rooms, and wellness services, while motivating a team to deliver excellent customer service and meet business targets.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Management:
Oversee all aspects of the Leisure Club and Spa operations, including the gym, swimming pool, spa treatments, sauna/steam facilities, and changing rooms.
Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations, pool plant operations, and hotel policies.
Maintain cleanliness, maintenance, and presentation standards across the leisure and spa areas.
Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) and emergency action plans.
Team Leadership:
Recruit, train, supervise, and develop leisure and spa staff including fitness instructors, therapists, lifeguards, and receptionists.
Conduct regular team meetings, performance reviews, and training sessions.
Promote a culture of guest service excellence and team collaboration.
Customer Service:
Ensure a consistently high standard of guest experience across all wellness areas.
Handle guest complaints or feedback promptly and professionally.
Monitor guest satisfaction through surveys, feedback forms, and service metrics.
Sales & Revenue:
Drive membership sales and spa treatment bookings.
Monitor and report on departmental KPIs including revenue, usage levels, and customer retention.
Develop and deliver promotional packages, seasonal offers, and wellness events in conjunction with the Sales & Marketing team.
Budget & Financial Management:
Assist with budget preparation and monitor departmental expenditure.
Manage stock control for spa products, towels, uniforms, and consumables.
Ensure the efficient scheduling of staff and resource allocation.
Person Specification:
Essential:
Previous experience in managing a leisure club and/or spa in a hotel or resort environment.
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Knowledge of health and safety regulations (e.g., NPLQ, First Aid, Pool Plant Operations certificate).
Experience with spa treatment operations and wellness services.
Excellent communication, customer service, and conflict-resolution skills.
Commercially aware with experience in budget management and sales targets.
Desirable:
Relevant qualifications in fitness, leisure management, or spa therapy.
Experience with membership sales and retention strategies.
Familiarity with leisure/spa booking and membership software.
