Children & Young People CBT Therapist and CBT Lead
Job Summary
Permanent Contract – 30 hours per week. Part‑time hours also considered. Band 7: £46,148 – £52,809 per annum (pro rata). The post‑holder works within the Children and Young Persons (CYP) Service providing cognitive behavioural assessments and interventions. The role supports evidence‑based interventions for children and young people with mental health difficulties in Brighton & Hove. The post‑holder will localise the CBT pathway, collaborate with counsellies, offer clinical supervision, and line‑manage Children’s Wellbeing Practitioners.

Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust in partnership with YMCA DownsLink Group and Southdown delivers the Brighton & Hove Wellbeing Service. The CYP service works closely with Brighton CAMHS and offers a range of support and psychological therapies to children and young people in Brighton and Hove.
Responsibilities
* Triaging referrals, assessing mental health difficulties, and delivering CBT to indicated children and young people with anxiety and low mood related difficulties, following national guidance.
* Delivering CBT via online and face‑to‑face appointments; flexible working from home and service bases.
* Providing clinical supervision, line‑management to Children’s Wellbeing Practitioners.
* Attending multi‑disciplinary meetings, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring service protocols are followed.
* Collaborating with other practitioners to ensure appropriate transfers of care and maintaining standards of practice according to professional bodies.
* Keeping up‑to‑date CPD and contributing to best practice development.
Qualifications & Training
* Recorded/registered qualification in nursing, social work, occupational therapy, arts therapy or a psychological therapy at graduate level.
* Evidence of training in mental health and experience in a stepped care service for anxiety and depression.
* Postgraduate Diploma or Masters Degree in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy affording eligibility for BABCP accreditation.
Experience – Essential
* Experience of working in mental health services.
* Experience of working with children and young people.
* Ability to meet agreed/specified service targets.
* Ability to manage own caseload and time.
* Demonstrates high standards in written communication.
* Able to write clear reports and letters to referrers.
