Primary Teaching Assistant – 1-2-1 Support – Alternative Provision – Walsall
Are you an experienced Primary Teaching Assistant who thrives on making a real difference in the lives of young people? This alternative provision in Walsall is looking for a dedicated and resilient Primary Teaching Assistant to provide 1-2-1 support for a pupil who requires additional help with their learning and behaviour.
As a Primary Teaching Assistant in this setting, you will be working closely with teaching staff to provide consistent support that enables the pupil to engage in lessons and make steady progress. The role requires patience, empathy, and strong behaviour management skills, as you’ll be supporting a child who may have faced barriers to education.
Job Role:
• Providing 1-2-1 support for a pupil with social, emotional, or behavioural needs.
• Assisting the class teacher in planning and delivering engaging learning activities.
• Supporting emotional regulation and helping the pupil to remain focused in class.
• Encouraging positive behaviour and building trusting, supportive relationships.
• Working collaboratively with the SENCO, teaching staff, and external professionals.
• Monitoring progress and providing feedback to support learning and development.
Requirements:
• Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant.
• Experience working with pupils with SEMH or additional learning needs.
• A calm, nurturing, and resilient approach to behaviour management.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent experience).
