Overview
We have an exciting opportunity for a General Practitioner to join our Primary Care team at HMP Hewell, a category B remand prison located in Redditch, Worcestershire. HMP Hewell provides fast‑paced healthcare for adult male inmates (21+), including substance misuse and long‑term conditions. In this role you will work closely with senior nurses to deliver reception care, first‑night prescribing, discharge prescribing, urgent follow‑up for duty doctors, and substance misuse prescribing. We value team players who thrive in a busy, dynamic environment.
Hours
* Monday 5:30 pm – 9:30 pm
* Tuesday 5:30 pm – 9:30 pm
* Friday 5:30 pm – 9:30 pm
* Saturdays 1 pm – 5 pm or 2 pm – 6 pm (job share available)

What You’ll Be Doing
* Deliver first‑class healthcare to a diverse group of patients and further develop your knowledge in areas beyond typical practice or A&E.
* Provide clinical assessment, diagnosis, and timely management decisions for patients.
* Serve as a highly specialist resource to other members of the healthcare team and participate in clinical governance and effectiveness activities.

Qualifications Required
* MBChB or MBBS, registered on the GMC as a GP and on the GP Performers List
* Evidence of engagement with annual appraisal and continuing professional development
* Experience working as a General Practitioner in community practice
* Ability to treat patients with a history of substance misuse (RCGP Certificate in Substance Misuse 1 or 2, or willingness to undertake these qualifications)
