Tradewind Recruitment is proud to be working with a specialist SEN school in North Northamptonshire to appoint an exceptional Head of School. This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate, resilient, and strategic leader to make a lasting difference in the lives of young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), with the opportunity to transition into a permanent position.
This specialist setting supports pupils with complex needs, including SEMH, ASD, and associated behavioural challenges. The successful candidate will demonstrate outstanding behaviour management expertise, with a proven track record of implementing consistent, trauma-informed, and restorative approaches that foster a safe, structured, and nurturing learning environment.
We are seeking a confident and inspirational leader with substantial senior leadership experience within an SEN or specialist provision. You will have a strong understanding of SEND legislation, EHCP processes, safeguarding, and multi-agency collaboration. Your leadership style will balance high expectations with empathy, ensuring both pupils and staff are supported to achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide strategic leadership and clear vision for the school.
Lead and develop a high-performing staff team.
Embed robust behaviour management systems across the provision.
Drive high standards of teaching, learning, and therapeutic practice.
Work effectively with parents, carers, governors, and external agencies.
Ensure compliance with Ofsted and statutory requirements.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Significant leadership experience at Deputy Head, Assistant Head, or Head of School level.
Extensive SEND experience, particularly within SEMH and complex needs.
Exceptional behaviour management and crisis de-escalation skills.
A commitment to inclusion, safeguarding, and raising outcomes for vulnerable learners.
