Infection Prevention and Control Nurse / Facilitator

To provide specialist advice, support, supervision and continuous professional development activities.
To positively support, influence and improve the quality ofthe clinical environment by the provision of audit,surveillance of alert organisms, management of outbreaksand educational activities to facilitate improvements inpatient care and organisational development.
To plan, implement and review evidence based improvement programmes in a range of settings to drive continuous quality improvement in the delivery of high quality and safe care for patients and service users.

Main duties of the job
Provide expert clinical advice, education, and guidance to staff and stakeholders.
Maintain professional standards, competency, and up-to-date evidence-based practice.
Teach, demonstrate, and evaluate clinical skills and procedures; lead quality improvement initiatives.
Manage clinical risks, ensure legal and safety compliance, and challenge poor practices.
Supervise, mentor, and provide clinical supervision to junior team members.
Support change management through strategic thinking, negotiation, and communication.
Develop and deliver training, coaching, and shadowing opportunities.
Manage resources effectively; authorized to approve expenses up to £1,000/month.
Conduct audits, research, and performance monitoring to enhance clinical care.
Contribute to policy, service development, and application of specialist knowledge.
Maintain accurate data recording, analysis, and reporting using Trust systems and Microsoft Office.
Promote equality, diversity, teamwork, and compassionate care across multidisciplinary teams.
Lead or assist in infection outbreak management and ensure timely, documented control measures.
Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover the cost of. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service are able to present a valid DBS certificate instead of requiring a new check.

Person Specification
Knowledge, Skills and Trainning
* Registered with the NMC or Allied Health Professional Registration
* Excellent research and audit skills
* Mentorship/Teaching Qualification
Experience
* Demonstrable clinical experience in professional practice
* Experience and understanding of research / education / audit requirements in a variety of settings
* Proven ability to challenge current working practices and introduce changes in light of evidence based recommendations
* Evidence of Continuing professional development
* Ability to use own initiative within sphere of authority
* Demonstrable leadership qualities and the ability to perform as a role model
Information Technology
* Confident in the use of Microsoft Word, databases, presentation software; and to evaluate data and produce reports using Microsoft Exce
* Experience of electronic patient / service user record system
