Job Description
Bridgefield Capital has announced the acquisition of Philips’ Emergency Care business, which includes leading brands and products such as HeartStart AEDs, Intrepid, DFM100 monitor defibrillators, Tempus monitor and ALS systems, and Corsium and ECI informatics solutions. The transaction is expected to close at the end of 2025.
Building on a 40+ year legacy of growth and innovation in emergency medical technology, the Emergency Care business aims to continue its mission of saving lives, reducing healthcare costs, and advancing resuscitation science, serving public access AED, EMS, military, and hospital markets.

Your role:
1. Embedded Software Development: Lead design, development, and sustainment of embedded software with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
2. System and Software Support: Provide technical support for customer and product investigations, defect resolution, lifecycle maintenance, and feature enhancements.
3. Process and Documentation: Contribute to software process controls, design documentation, risk management, and CAPA activities.
4. Requirements and Architecture: Translate customer and business needs into robust embedded systems and software architectures aligned with product goals.
5. Technical Analysis: Interpret technical diagrams and datasheets; decompose complex designs into electronic, mechanical, and software subsystems.
6. Engineering Excellence: Apply rigorous engineering practices in reviews, decision-making, problem-solving, and verification, emphasizing risk management and safety.
7. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with medical device standards (IEC 60601 series, IEC 62304) and quality procedures for regulatory approvals.
8. Cross-functional Collaboration: Foster relationships across R&D, PMO, product management, operations, regulatory, and quality teams, especially with principal software subcontractors.
9. Technical mentorship: Act as a technical leader, providing guidance and oversight within the team.
Work Environment:
We value collaboration and in-person work at least 3 days per week at our Farnborough, Hampshire office.
Candidate Profile:
* Engineering degree or equivalent in a relevant technical field.
* Experience in medical devices preferred, but other regulated industries considered.
* Experience leading embedded Linux software development.
* Knowledge of embedded electronic/software systems, communication technologies (TCP/IP, Ethernet, USB, WiFi, Bluetooth), APIs, IEC 62304.
* Experience within ISO 14971 quality systems and product approvals (EU-MDD, EU-MDR, FDA).
* Flexible, adaptable, and open to change in a dynamic environment.
* Excellent communication skills, capable of engaging with diverse stakeholders.
